BIO
My work originates from my daily life: the trays, the floors, ten-minute breaks, and conversations in the kitchen. As an artist with nearly a decade of experience in the service industry, I view labor not only as lived experience but also as image, material, and language.
Positioned between artist and worker, my practice offers a dual perspective—both personal and collective, experiential yet transformed into image. I am deeply concerned with the relationship between art and class consciousness. Often, art discourse remains insular, addressing only those already familiar with its codes, excluding broader audiences. I aim to speak differently—creating images accessible to my colleagues in the service industry, without explanation or condescension.
My work seeks to represent from within those rarely seen in art: servers, cooks, and invisible laborers. Historically, working-class subjects are depicted through a distanced, external gaze—a vicarious representation that objectifies rather than humanizes. In contrast, my practice emerges from shared experience; I do not observe from afar but exist within the same framework I portray.
Spray paint, for me, balances immediacy and speed with a mechanical uniformity that underscores irony or emotional detachment in the image. This tension between the mechanical and handmade, the typographic and tactile, is central to my practice.
Visually, I draw on graphic design, mass culture, early 3D video games, and poster rhetoric. My aesthetic choices emphasize clarity, humor, and recognizability over abstraction or institutional self-reference. Text plays a central role; I incorporate words and phrases from labor and everyday service into images that evoke feeling and ambiguity rather than clear meaning.
My chosen media and references are deliberate. I want my images to fee familiar—like something seen in a kitchen, on a daily scanned QR code, or as a desktop background—communicating with the ease of a casual joke among coworkers, one that elicits laughter but carries a deeper message.
